Beth Tate: Venice, CA, United States; I've been lampworking for about a year after 20 years in ceramics. The immediacy is what grabbed and has held me. I absolutely love it. There is a recurring theme--things within things, things hidden by other things, abstracted with heavy bent toward organic.

For a living, I scout locations for tv commercials and print ads. Film work is intense and when the job is complete, I throw myself into this other intensity. It's been a godsend. I used to fret between jobs but now I can hardly wait to get back into the studio.
